For therapists - Free handouts
Here, for professionals who work with people who have experienced trauma, are some handouts I use in my workshop called "Resolving Trauma Without Drama." Some of them only make sense when you attend the workshop, but some of them can be understood on their own. If you are not a therapist, you are welcome to them as well, but they are meant for people working with others, not specifically for people whoa re seeking personal help resolving trauma. They are available as a Word file. Click (or you may need to right-click if you are a Windows user; or option-click if you are a Macintosh user) and then select save file to disk or whatever option like that your computer offers.

Rapid methods of resolving trauma
In the section, you can find some resources to learn about some new, controversial and experimental methods for rapidly resolving trauma. Most of these have been developed over the past 20 years or so.

They are:
EMDR - This stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Developed by Francine Shapiro, a psychologist from California, this method involves directed rapid eye movements that seem to decrease the anxiety, other unpleasant feelings and unhelpful beliefs associated with trauma. This approach has been studied extensively and for many years, and although it is still controversial, thousands of people have reported significant and remarkable healing in relatively short times. This is the best known and most widely practiced of the newer, more rapid methods for treating traumatic aftereffects. Click the link below to visit a site that is a central repository for information and to find qualified practitioners of EMDR. [You need a competent practitioner to access this method.]

EFT: Emotional Freedom Technique

Emotional Freedom Technique is derived from Thought Field Therapy, a method that involves tapping on certain points on the body (supposedly acupuncture points). This approach is accessible, relatively easy to learn and you can get a free manual from the site to learn the basics of it. Unlike EMDR, the method listed above, this one you can use on your own.

There is also a general website with many "energy psychology" and "energy healing" methods. Over the past few years, many new methods are emerging. Check them out at:

As usual, investigate and use your common sense and intuition when pursuing any of these methods. They are all new and experimental. But if one of them works, they promise to work very quickly and to eliminate traumatic aftereffects.
